Health Council & Health Canada Partner on H1N1 Training
The First Nations Health Council (FNHC), First Nations Inuit Health- BC Region (FNIH) and JEL Protection Ltd. are partnering to offer an opportunity to build health care capacity in First Nations communities. This initiative will provide two days of training in approximately 18 central venues across BC, including five sessions in each of Vancouver Island, the Interior, and the North and three sessions in Fraser/the Lower Mainland. This training is targeted to Band or Health Centre staff who do not typically deliver health services. The intent of the training is to develop basic health care skills, specific to H1N1 influenza prevention and containment which can complement currently provided health services.

Tripartite H1N1 Memo - November 2009 - Vaccine Priority
The Tripartite First Nations H1N1 Working Group memo for November is now available. The memo describes how vaccine is being distributed in First Nations communities and identifies timelines within which priority groups can expect to receive vaccine.

National H1N1 Webcast
The Assembly of First Nations and Health Canada will host a Virtual Summit on H1N1 for First Nations Communities. This webcast, to be held November 10th 2009, will begin at 9:00 AM PST and run for approximately 2 hours will cover the following topics:
- • Preparations and activities underway to deal with the second wave of H1N1 in First Nations communities;
- • Recent developments in H1N1;
- • Distribution of vaccines and antiviral drugs for First Nations communities;
- • Profiles on First Nations communities in their planning and preparedness efforts;
- • Interactive youth and expert panel for live Question and Answer sessions.

The 3rd Annual Gathering Wisdom for a Shared Journey Forum takes place November 3, 4 & 5th at the Marriott Pinnacle Hotel.
