Provincial Health Officers Report Released- June 25th, 2009

The Provincial Health Officers Report was released on June 25th. The report, entitled Pathways to Health and Healing: 2nd Report of Health and Well-being of Aboriginal People in British Columbia | pdf download | is published every five years by the office of Provincial Health Officer, and analyzes 64 indicators, including determinants of health; healthy beginnings (pregnancy, infants and children); diseases and injuries; and health services.
Yesterday’s report shows that since 2001, 18 indicators have shown improvement 10 have worsened and eight show increasing rates of chronic disease. The First Nations Health Council played an advisory role in the publishing of the 2007 report.
