REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL

Community Toolkit Facilitation

| the request [word document] |
The interim First Nations Health Authority has developed a Community Toolkit with resources and tools needed to implement health promotion strategies, as well as, to enhance existing programs.  This collection of resources covers topics on physical activity, nutrition, mental wellness, and prenatal and maternal health.  The kits also contain references that tie these topics to First Nations traditions and cultures.

The interim First Nations Health Authorty is seeking to engage a contractor to facilitate piloting of the toolkit in selected First Nations Communities.

First Nations Health Workforce & Traditional Medicine Scan

| the request [word document] |
The purpose of this project is to collect information which will inform provincial strategies in two important areas of work.
Traditional Medicine: The interim First Nations Health Authority recognizes that addressing First Nations health through more traditional, holistic model is critical toward reducing the health disparities gap between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people. A traditional medicine survey has been developed to assess the prevalence, health, and scope of the use of traditional and alternative medicine in BC First Nations communities. The results of this survey will form the basis for a policy approach to Traditional and Alternative medicines.
Health Human Resources: The shortage of health care workers is a national and international issue, but the shortage is particularly acute for First Nations communities.  Severe gaps in services exist in First Nations communities, and First Nations are under-represented in all health care fields, compared to the general population. As part of implementing the Tripartite First Nations Health Plan (TFNHP) and the AHHR Initiative; interim First Nations Health Authorty is seeking to undertake a comprehensive health human resource scan in BC First Nations communities.

This First Nations Health Workforce scan will provide the iFNHA will much-needed data and will allow the iFNHA to develop targeted strategies toward closing health human resource issues and gaps.
